What is USB-C PD?

USB-C Power Delivery (PD) is a protocol that enables fast, flexible and safe charging. This technology allows multiple devices to be quickly charged over a common USB-C connection, negotiating the most efficient and safe settings.

How fast is fast?

The Charge PD series uses both USB-C PD and Quick Charge 3.0 protocols. This means you can charge with a power of up to 18W via the USB-C port and up to 15W via the USB-A port. A standard USB port only delivers 5W, so you can charge with our power bank about three times faster.

How is charging a laptop from a wall outlet different?

When your computer is not in use, Charge PD will charge your laptop battery as you would from a wall outlet. However, if you are using your computer while charging via Charge PD, your battery life will be extended, but you may not see the battery icon increase. This is because at 18W, the charging speed is likely to match your real-time usage. Wall chargers allow laptops to draw higher amounts of current, allowing you to fully charge your laptop while you are using it.

Can I take the Charge PD to cold environments?

Yes, the approved operating temperature of the Charge PD series is -20°C to 40°C.

Is the Charge 80 waterproof?

No, most users do not charge sensitive electronics in rainy or wet conditions, preferring the easy access of the open port design. However, the Charge PDs are drop-tested for rugged durability in real-world situations.
