In 1933, Björn, Alvar, and Arvid Kjellström invented the first liquid-filled compass, which marked the beginning of our company. It was not only the first compass with this technology, but it also set a global standard for how navigation equipment works. It was then that the Silva brand was born. A few years later, in 1935 to be precise, we expanded our scope with a new invention: the Zeiler headlamp.
