There are more than 7,300 hectares of dune area between Wijk aan Zee and the Schoorlse Duinen, North Holland Dune ReserveThe diversity and varied environment of this area makes it a beautiful setting for a new trail from the organization of the Vuurtorentrail and the Veluwezoomtrail. The area has an extensive history and a number of famous noble rulers such as King William I and the Count of Egmond. The Graef Castricum Trail is also a noble nod to this history. The North Holland Dune Reserve is an important water catchment area for North Holland and is managed by PWN.
