Ultra-trail running is all about one thing: keeping moving, no matter how long it takes. This requires shoes that are not only light and comfortable, but also built for endless distances.

That's why we are proud to announce that Trail.NL the first in the Netherlands Mount to Coast introduces — a brand from Hong Kong, developed by a team of experienced shoe designers with one mission: building the ultimate shoe for ultra-runners.

Mount to Coast was born in the Hong Kong ultra world, where races like the Hong Kong 100 and TransLantau demand extreme endurance.

The brand combines Asian precision with international experience and focuses entirely on shoes that maintain comfort, cushioning and durability over tens, even hundreds of kilometers.

Their philosophy is simple, yet striking:

We run long distances to find ourselves. But on any journey, comfort creates confidence.

Launching a new shoe brand in 2025 is nearly impossible. The market is dominated by giants with enormous budgets, and every season, brands that just barely make it disappear. Yet, Mount to Coast is making an impression—and that's no coincidence.

The team behind the brand consists of experienced shoe developers from Hong Kong, Japan and the US who worked for years at major performance brands like ASICS, Brooks, and Nike. People who knew how to do things better: less marketing, more running experience.

Their strength? They didn't start with a spreadsheet, but with a question:

How does a shoe feel after 100 kilometers, 3000 meters of elevation gain and 10 hours in the sun?

That mindset led to the founding of Mount to Coast: a small team, short lines of communication, and a pure focus on fit, stability, and material technology. No compromises on margins or fashionable colors — it's all about functional design for ultra-distance.

While others build their shoes in a marketing lab, Mount to Coast tests them on real trails, in extreme conditions. And that's precisely what gives this brand, where so many others have failed, a serious chance of survival.

The T1 Mount to Coast's first model is a pure trail shoe for technical trails and long distances. The shoe combines a robust Vibram outsole with a responsive midsole and a roomy fit—built to maintain its bounce, even after hours of walking.

The following will follow soon H1: A hybrid model that effortlessly transitions between asphalt and unpaved terrain. Ideal for mixed-surface ultras or training sessions that start in the city and end in the countryside.

Also appearing later this year road models, developed for ultrarunners who run extreme races on heated asphalt roads — such as the iconic Badwater 135, where Mount to Coast is now official partner and shoe sponsor is.

The Badwater 135 is considered the toughest ultramarathon in the world: 217 kilometers through Death Valley, with temperatures above 50 degrees.

Mount to Coast sponsors this event and several athletes who finished it in MTC shoes. Their shoes are specially designed to withstand extreme heat, prolonged impact, and nights without rest—precisely the conditions where most brands fail.
