A sturdy micro crew for long days on foot. It has full cushioning underfoot and sits just above the shoe collar. It feels noticeably thicker than a lightweight hiking sock.
You notice the difference when your feet get tired. On rocks, roots and hard paths the cushioning absorbs the impact. Especially in the last hours of a long hike or trek, pressure points stay calmer.
Warmer than a light sock. The merino wool keeps your feet warm on cold mornings and moves moisture away when you're working hard on a climb. If you mostly hike in summer in low shoes, the lighter 1972 Light Hiker is a better choice.
A sturdy all-rounder for mountains and multi-day trips. Not for hot summer days.
