Description

Comfortable, protective and roomy. The wide forefoot lets your toes spread naturally, which is pleasant on long runs and hikes. The cushioning is comfortable but not mushy, so you still feel the ground well.

At its best when it's wet and cold. Think rainy autumn runs, muddy forest paths or a winter hike with wet rocks and puddles. After an hour through wet grass and mud you notice the difference: your feet stay dry and warm. On wet rocks and slippery descents the grip stays reliable.

In doubt? Look at the season. The waterproof membrane makes it warmer and less breathable, so in summer your feet heat up faster. If you run through deep water or streams, water comes in over the top and dries slowly. Want to run light on dry paths? Choose the version without a membrane.

In short: the shoe for wet, cold trails where dry feet come first.

Yes. It has a GORE-TEX Invisible Fit membrane that keeps your feet dry and still breathes.

What is the Experience Wild 3+ GTX made for?

For trail running and hiking on wet, muddy or snowy trails. Medium cushioning with the Altra EGO P35 midsole, a rocker shape and Vibram Megagrip with TractionLug lugs.

Can I attach a gaiter?

Yes, the shoe has a GaiterTrap: a hook-and-loop tab at the heel where you attach a gaiter. Gaiters are sold separately.

How does the Experience Wild 3+ GTX fit?

Standard FootShape fit: a roomy toe box, slightly narrower than Altra's Original fit, and a 4 mm drop. It runs slightly small, so Altra recommends going half a size up.
