The strong magnet holds the tube in place and lets go when you grab it. That way you drink quickly without having to look for the tube.
You notice it mostly on long runs where you drink often. You snap the tube back on in one move.
Note: the magnet set does not fit the insulated tube sets, because they have a larger outer diameter.
