Soft and full in your boot. The Gatewood has terry loops throughout the sock for warmth and bounce. The footbed and Achilles are extra reinforced.
Well above your hiking boot. At about 27 cm from the heel it sits roughly 10 cm above a standard hiking boot. You'll notice it on long trips, when a tall boot shaft would otherwise start to rub.
For changing temperatures. The merino wool regulates temperature and moisture, keeping your feet warm on cold mornings and not too wet on climbs. On stony paths and long descents the full terry cushions every step.
