Description

Made for long days in the mountains. The shoe feels comfortable and stable, even when the terrain gets rougher and the kilometres add up. The ride stays smooth without losing contact with the ground.

Lots of confidence on technical terrain. The grip gives security on wet rocks, loose stones and muddy paths, while the stable platform helps on steep descents and uneven ground. Especially when your legs get tired, you notice the extra cushioning and support saving energy.

Protection without feeling clunky. The upper wraps the foot securely and helps absorb rock strikes and knocks on technical sections. Gaiter attachment points make the shoe extra practical on dusty or gravelly routes.

Torn between this and a lighter trail shoe? Choose the Mafate 5 if comfort, protection and control matter more than speed. For short, fast or less technical trails, a more direct model is often the better choice.

Does the Mafate 5 run small or large?

It runs slightly small and fits fairly snugly around the midfoot. Many runners go half a size up from their normal running shoe size.

What is the difference from the Mafate Speed 4?

The Mafate 5 has more foam, a higher drop (8 mm instead of 4 mm), a new outsole with a reinforced Meta-Rocker and a more protective upper with gaiter attachment points. As a result it is a little heavier.

Is the Mafate 5 waterproof?

No, the upper is made of breathable warp knit textile with a TPU cage for structure.

What do you use the Mafate 5 for?

For long trail runs and ultras on technical, mountainous terrain. On flat, easy paths it soon feels heavy; a lighter trail shoe is nicer there.
