The combination of the North Sea coast and beautiful nature reserves like the Amsterdam Water Supply Dunes and the Zuid Kennemerland National Park gave us the idea for this trail. With the De Pierewaai building in IJmuiden aan Zee as the finish line, the name Pierewaai Trail was born. Especially for early risers who appreciate the morning light.
Our goal is to create a non-commercial trail run that is appreciated for its beautiful, diverse scenery and friendly atmosphere. We aim to achieve this with various routes along the North Sea coast. With distances ranging from 10 to 100 km and increasing difficulty levels, the Pierewaai Trail is an attractive event for both beginners and experienced trail runners.

A trail cup is increasingly mandatory at trail runs to reduce waste and promote sustainability. By allowing participants to bring their own cup, organizers avoid the use of disposable cups and protect the environment. This aligns with the self-sufficiency inherent in trail running and saves costs.
