On Sunday, December 15, Sportdorp Doornenburg will organize a Christmas TrailRUN and a Santa HatRUN.
A running route of approximately 1.3 kilometers on unpaved terrain has been laid out around the castle in Doornenburg. The start and finish are at the castle, where you can visit the Christmas Market in the courtyard during and after the race. With your race number, you have a chance to win a prize at the Christmas market, so it's definitely worth a visit.
The TrailRUN distances are 5.5 and 11 km, with multiple laps. The KerstmutsRUN involves a 750-meter lap.
The KerstmutsRUN and the Kerst TrailRUN are mainly about taking part, not about winning.
About the area
Doornenburg, located in Gelderland near the German border, is a beautiful spot for trail running, thanks to its historic and natural surroundings. The area is known for its iconic Doornenburg Castle, one of the best-preserved castles in the Netherlands, and offers a unique blend of culture and nature for trail runners.
The trails around Doornenburg take you along dikes, rivers, and through the green floodplains of the Rhine and Waal rivers.
