Description

Made for long days on technical terrain. The shoe feels comfortable and stable, so you keep running relaxed even after many kilometres. The ride stays smooth, even when the path gets rougher and steeper.

Lots of confidence on challenging trails. The grip gives security on wet rocks, loose stones and muddy paths, while the stable platform helps on technical descents and uneven ground. Especially when fatigue sets in, you notice the extra cushioning and protection making the difference.

Designed for long use in the mountains. The upper wraps the foot securely and protects against knocks and rock strikes without feeling heavy. Gaiter attachment points make the shoe extra suitable for dusty or gravelly routes.

Torn between this and a lighter trail shoe? Choose the Mafate 5 if comfort, protection and control come first. For short, fast or less technical trails, a more direct model is often the better choice.

Does the Mafate 5 run small or large?

It runs slightly small and fits fairly snugly around the midfoot. Many runners go half a size up from their normal running shoe size.

What is the difference from the Mafate Speed 4?

The Mafate 5 has more foam, a higher drop (8 mm instead of 4 mm), a new outsole with a reinforced Meta-Rocker and a more protective upper with gaiter attachment points. As a result it is a little heavier.

Is the Mafate 5 waterproof?

No, the upper is made of breathable warp knit textile with a TPU cage for structure.

What do you use the Mafate 5 for?

For long trail runs and ultras on technical, mountainous terrain. On flat, easy paths it soon feels heavy; a lighter trail shoe is nicer there.
