Comfort on long day hikes. On hard forest paths and gravel roads the cushioning underfoot absorbs the worst of the impact. Especially in the second half of a long hike you'll notice your soles don't get sore as quickly.
Torn between lightweight and midweight? If you mainly hike in spring and summer in low shoes, this light version is more comfortable. Hiking in tall mountain boots or in the cold? Go for a midweight sock.
