VJ Sports Ultra 3

Cushioned trail shoe for long distances and technical terrain.

Kleur: Ultra Blue
Maat:

Fits averagely. Usually no larger size needed.

Description

Walks comfortably without becoming unstable. The cushioning feels softer and more supple than many technical trail shoes, making long distances feel less strenuous on the legs and feet. At the same time, the shoe remains stable enough on rougher terrain.

Gives a lot of confidence in wet and technical surface. The outsole maintains grip on mud, wet stones, and steep descents, allowing you to keep walking in a controlled manner when the terrain becomes more difficult. The sturdy heel construction helps keep the foot securely in place during technical sections.

It works particularly well during long trails where fatigue starts to set in. On rocky paths and long descents, you notice the benefit of the combination of protection, grip, and cushioning. Especially later in an ultra, the shoe helps you keep moving more comfortably and efficiently.

Undecided between a technical trail shoe and a comfortable ultra shoe? Choose the Ultra 3 if you run long distances on challenging terrain and do not want to compromise on grip. For short, fast trails or a lot of asphalt, lighter and more direct models often feel better.

Very nice trail shoe with definitely good grip

So far, I have run trails in various shoes, with the Saucony Xodus being the most recent. On the obstacles during an OCR, I find the grip of the Xodus somewhat disappointing, but for trails, it is a wonderful and perfect shoe. After browsing the internet extensively for a shoe with the best grip, I ended up with the (relatively unknown) VJ Ultra. I have now run a few trails (20k+) with them and I am very pleased with them. The shoe fits well without pinching and offers plenty of room for the toes. (Saucony has this too, but sometimes there is a chafing spot on a toe, which is not the case with the VJ). Cushioning is excellent, so it is a great shoe for longer distances. The grip is truly superb (was able to test it well on snow and ice). In terms of size, I chose a 0.5 size larger than my standard shoe size, but that is of course a personal preference. I am curious to see how the shoe will perform during OCR in the upcoming season.
Very satisfied so far!

They are simply top shoes

They are simply top-notch shoes, excellent grip with plenty of cushioning and good toe room, among the best shoes I have ever walked in, highly recommended. 👌

Great grip!! Water resistant; dry quickly.

I ordered these shortly beforehand to participate in the Otillo SwimRun, because of the good grip they were supposed to provide on wet rocks. Way too short notice; I had actually already made my choice: an older pair of trail shoes that were well broken in. I ran a grand total of 4 km on the VJ Ultra Maxx 3 on local trails and rocks, broke them in afterwards during the trip, and decided to give them a chance after all. Because the drop – 8 mm – was the same. And I had to go over many slippery rocks in the Stockholm archipelago. It certainly didn't disappoint; I definitely feel like I was faster with these and had more grip.
