On a rocky descent in the Alps or across wet stones in the Ardennes, the outsole gives you grip and a flexible forefoot plate protects against sharp stones and roots. Especially after a few hours, when your legs get tired and you step less precisely, you notice that extra confidence. With the universal gaiter system you can easily attach a gaiter to keep out stones and dirt.

Is the Traverse 2 waterproof?

No, the upper is made of breathable, durable mesh. The FKT insole made of closed-cell foam doesn't absorb water, so your shoe drains quickly after a puddle or stream.

Is the Traverse 2 a hiking or a running shoe?

Topo mainly calls it a hiking shoe: stable, with a flexible ESS rock plate against sharp stones and roots and Vibram Megagrip for grip on wet rock and loose stones. It can handle easy trail runs too, but it's fairly heavy for fast running.

Can I attach a gaiter?

Yes, the shoe has Topo's universal gaiter system. The Topo Switchback Gaiter is sold separately.

How does the Traverse 2 fit?

Typical Topo: a roomy toe box where your toes can move freely, with a snug midfoot and heel. The drop is low: 5 mm (30 mm heel, 25 mm forefoot).
