Low and direct on technical terrain. The Terraventure 5 has a low 25/22 mm stack and a fairly firm ZipFoam midsole. You feel clearly what's happening under your foot, so you can react quickly in corners and on uneven trails.
Protection without a thick sole. A flexible ESS rock plate in the forefoot protects against sharp stones and roots. On long, rocky descents you notice your feet take fewer hits, while the shoe keeps flexing smoothly.
Grip and a sturdy upper. The Vibram Megagrip outsole holds on wet rocks, mud and loose ground, and the reinforced mesh with toe protection can take a beating. The toe box is roomy, like every Topo. Looking for more cushioning for ultras? Then check out the MTN Racer 4.
