Grip and protection for bad weather. The Speedgoat 7 GTX feels sturdy and cushioned and gives you confidence on wet, rocky and uneven trails. The Gore-Tex membrane keeps out rain, wet grass and puddles.

Comfortable as the miles add up. The cushioning absorbs repeated impact well and the shoe stays stable when the terrain gets rougher. You notice the combination of grip and cushioning especially on long, slippery descents with tired legs.

Practical in the cold and the dark. The quick-lace system is easy to adjust, even with gloves on, and reflective details help in low light. Do expect it to breathe less: in warm weather your feet heat up faster.

Choose this one for wet and cold trails. For dry races or summer runs, the regular Speedgoat 7 makes more sense.

The fit is similar: it runs slightly small. Many runners go half a size up, especially with thicker winter socks.
