Description

A sturdy low sock for long days on foot. The quarter height sits just over your ankle, so the collar of a low shoe stays off your skin. The cushioning underfoot takes the harshness out of rocky paths.

Stays where it belongs. The snug fit stops the sock from slipping, twisting or bunching in your shoe. You notice it most after hours of walking and on long descents, when your foot slides forward in the shoe.

Side vents for warmer days. Ventilation zones along the sides let heat escape faster than a closed hiking sock. If you mostly walk in the cold or in high boots, a micro crew or boot sock is a better choice.

Pick this one for low shoes and long distances. If you want to go as light as possible, choose a lightweight sock.

Why Darn Tough?

After a few hundred kilometres, many socks start to wear thin at the heel. You want a sock that stays snug, doesn't slip and simply lasts. That's exactly why we carry Darn Tough at Trail.NL.

The socks are knit in Vermont, USA, from a blend of merino wool, nylon and elastane. The range goes from ultra-thin no shows for fast runs to cushioned models for long trails and hikes, all with a close fit.

For us, Darn Tough is above all a sock you can count on: comfortable, tough and backed by the brand's own lifetime guarantee.

Frequently asked questions

Which shoes suit the 1959 Hiker Quarter best?

Low hiking shoes, approach shoes and trail shoes. In mid or high boots you're better off with a micro crew or boot sock, so the collar doesn't rub on your skin.

What is this sock made of?

59% merino wool, 38% nylon and 3% elastane, knitted in Vermont, USA.

What does Darn Tough's lifetime guarantee cover?

Darn Tough gives an unconditional lifetime guarantee on its socks. If your sock does wear through, just get in touch with us.

Is this sock suitable for warm weather?

The side vents make it airier than a closed hiking sock. It's still a midweight sock with cushioning, so on really hot days a lightweight sock stays cooler.
