Description

Moves like a trail shoe, protects like a hiking shoe. The cushioning feels protective but not sluggish, and there is enough bounce at toe-off to jog a stretch. The padded, higher collar wraps the ankle and keeps out stones and grit.

Made for long days on mixed terrain. Think multi-day hikes in the Ardennes, the Eifel or the Alps, with wet grassy paths, mud and rocky sections. The reinforced upper stands up to scuffs from rocks and branches, and at the end of a long day with a pack you notice your feet are still dry.

Choose this one if dry feet matter more than ventilation. The waterproof membrane breathes less than open mesh, so your feet get warm in warm weather. For running, the Speedgoat 7 or Speedgoat 7 Gore-Tex is a better fit, and with a heavy pack on rough terrain a sturdy mountain boot gives more support.

Light and fast on the trail in every season. Especially strong in autumn, winter and on wet hikes.

Is the Speedgoat 7 Hike GTX a running shoe?

It is a hiking shoe with a higher collar and Speedgoat cushioning. Jogging short stretches works fine, but for real trail runs the Speedgoat 7 or Speedgoat 7 Gore-Tex is better.

Is it waterproof?

Yes, the Gore-Tex membrane keeps water out. Thanks to the higher collar your feet also stay dry on wet grassy paths and in shallow puddles.

Does it run small or large?

It runs slightly small. Go half a size up from your usual shoe size, especially if you wear thick hiking socks.

Does it give a lot of ankle support?

The padded collar wraps the ankle and keeps out grit, but it is not a stiff mountain boot. For heavy loads on rough terrain, a sturdier hiking boot is a better choice.
