The combination of the North Sea coast with beautiful nature reserves such as the Amsterdam Waterleiding Duinen and the Nat Park Zuid Kennemerland gave us the idea for this Trail. With the building De Pierewaai in IJmuiden aan Zee as the finish location, the name Pierewaai Trail was created. Especially for the early birds who can appreciate the morning hour.
Our goal is to realize a non-commercial trail run that is appreciated for its beautiful varied nature and cozy atmosphere. We want to achieve this with different routes along the North Sea coast. With distances of 10 to 100 km and an increasing degree of difficulty, the Pierewaai Trail is an attractive event for both the novice and the experienced 'trailer'.

A trail cup is increasingly mandatory at trail runs to reduce waste and promote sustainability. By allowing participants to bring their own cup, organizers avoid the use of disposable cups and protect nature. This fits in with the self-sufficiency that comes with trail running and saves costs.
