This neck warmer feels light, soft, and airy. You hardly notice it around your neck, and because it is seamless, nothing digs in, not even under a helmet or cap. It stretches in all directions, so you can easily pull it up over your chin or ears.

It works best when you are on the move. Think of an early morning endurance run in temperatures a few degrees below zero, a winter trail in the Ardennes, or a long ride involving a lot of climbing and descending. On the climb, as you warm up and start sweating, you notice the difference: the fabric stays dry to the touch and the heat can escape, whereas a fleece or merino buff would become clammy. When descending, you pull it up like a hat to keep your ears warm.

If in doubt, consider the weather in which you will be walking. The open fabric allows a lot of air to pass through, so in strong winds, rain, or when standing still for a long time, it will keep you less warm than a dense buff. The structure is also somewhat more susceptible to snags from Velcro or branches. If you mainly walk in cold, dry conditions and are constantly on the move, then this is exactly the right choice.
