Caps for trail running: small detail, big difference

A good cap does more than you think. It protects against sun and rain, keeps sweat out of your eyes, and helps you stay comfortable—regardless of pace or conditions.

When do you choose a cap? (sun, sweat, and visibility)

Do you run in the sun or sweat easily? Then a cap is almost indispensable. The visor protects your eyes from bright light and rain, while the fabric absorbs sweat—so you can continue looking and moving comfortably.

Breathable & quick-drying (no clammy feeling)

Nothing is as annoying as a wet cap. Opt for lightweight, breathable materials that wick away moisture quickly and dry. Mesh panels or perforations help create extra ventilation on warm days.

Fit & stability (stays seated at the right pace)

A cap must fit well without pinching. Adjustable fastenings and a flexible visor ensure it remains stable, even during descents or in the wind.

Foldable & practical (always to take along)

Many running caps can be folded compactly and fit easily in your pocket or jacket. Handy if you want to change on the go or be prepared for changing weather.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is a cap better than a headband?
For sun and rain protection, yes. A headband is lighter, but offers less protection for your face.

Can I wear a cap in the rain?
Yes, especially in light rain. For prolonged rain, combine it with a rain jacket.

Won't it get too hot?
With breathable materials, the opposite is true—a good cap helps keep your head cool.

Smart combination

Combine with a sunglasses for optimal visibility in bright light
Wear a lightweight shirt for maximum ventilation

Whether it's sunny, sweaty, or slightly wet—with a good cap, you stay comfortable and focused from start to finish.
