The Stork Trail owes its name to the wet area along the stream Poppelse Leij. The valley, through which the stream flows, attracts many waders, marsh birds and frogs (a treat for storks). In and around this area storks regularly nest and the nearby farm is therefore also referred to as the stork's nest
