On Sunday, December 15, Sportdorp Doornenburg will organize a Christmas TrailRUN and a Santa HatRUN.
Around the castle in Doornenburg a running route of approximately 1.3 kilometers on unpaved terrain has been set out. Start and finish are from the castle where during and after the race there is an opportunity to visit the Christmas Market in the courtyard. With your starting number you have a chance to win a prize at the Christmas market, so certainly a reason to stop by.
For the TrailRUN, distances of 5.5 and 11 km are possible. Multiple laps are run. For the KerstmutsRUN, a lap of 750 meters is run.
The KerstmutsRUN and the Kerst TrailRUN are mainly about taking part, not about winning.

Doornenburg, located in Gelderland near the border with Germany, is a beautiful place for trail running, thanks to its historical and natural surroundings. The area is known for its iconic Doornenburg Castle, one of the best preserved castles in the Netherlands, and offers a unique mix of culture and nature for trail runners.
The trails around Doornenburg take you along dikes, rivers and through green floodplains of the Rhine and the Waal. These river landscapes provide beautiful views and a varied terrain, from grassland and sandy paths to unpaved dikes. The area is popular for its quiet, vast nature and the chance to spot waterfowl and other wildlife.
In addition to the river nature, there are various wooded areas and winding paths that take you through the rural landscape. The combination of flat areas and gently sloping dikes makes it an ideal location for both long distances and relaxed runs. Doornenburg offers a beautiful setting for trail runners of all levels with its mix of history, river landscape and rustic nature.
A trail cup is increasingly mandatory at trail runs to reduce waste and promote sustainability. By allowing participants to bring their own cup, organizers avoid the use of disposable cups and protect nature. This fits in with the self-sufficiency that comes with trail running and saves costs.
