Today the Altra Olympus 6 family was launched. Consisting of the Altra Olympus 6, the Olympus 6 Hike Mid GTX and the Olympus 6 Hike Low GTX.
Altra Olympus 6, what's new?
We have been selling the Altra Olympus for years and have therefore also included the new model in our range. What is new about this shoe? These are small updates, the basis of the shoe was good and remains so.
- Redesigned mesh upper, designed for improved breathability
- Improved profile, developed for better traction and stability
- New premium Achilles cushioning for improved step-in feel
- Slightly thicker lace
- The logo has been replaced by the text "Altra"
- The tongue is a bit thicker and more comfortable
- The toe protection extends a little further and seems a bit sturdier.
The shoe remains the same otherwise. So the same stack height, fit and Vibram Megagrip sole. (More about Vibram Megagrip here.)

Above the Olympus 5 and below the Olympus 6. The design is slightly different, the shape around the ankle is no longer round but angular and the bumper at the toes extends a little further.

The Vibram Megagrip sole has a slightly different profile, which should give you even more grip.

You can see that the tongue is a bit thicker and more comfortable. The same goes for the lace. Furthermore, the instep at the heel has changed a bit. The mesh should breathe better, but that is difficult to see in the picture.
Altra Olympus Hike

In addition to the trail shoe, there is also a waterproof GTX (goretex) version. Both a low (LOW) and a mid-high (MID.) This is the same as the Olympus 6, but with a different exterior. Less breathable and completely waterproof. The mid-high is my favorite hiking shoe in winter.
