The waterproof membrane keeps out rain, wet grass, and splashing water more effectively, while the supportive construction provides confidence on uneven terrain. As a result, the shoe feels particularly secure on technical trails where grip and control are more important than maximum breathability.

Made for bad weather and challenging terrain. The traction comes into its own on wet stones, muddy paths, and steep climbs or descents. The sturdy upper keeps the foot firmly in place when the terrain gets unsettled.

You notice the combination of grip and support especially when conditions deteriorate. During long descents, fatigue, and wet technical terrain, the stable base helps maintain control, while your feet remain better protected from external moisture. In warm or dry weather, the shoe may feel less breathable than the standard Genesis 2.

Choose this GTX version for wet and cold trail days. If you mainly run in dry or warm weather, the non-waterproof version makes more sense.
