It performs best on wet, cold days with mixed terrain. Think of a rainy long run in the Veluwe, a hike through the Ardennes, or a route that goes from asphalt to forest path and mud. After an hour through puddles and wet grass, you notice the difference: your feet stay dry, whereas in a regular trail shoe they would already be soaked. The sole maintains good grip on wet stones and roots. With a gaiter, sold separately, you also keep sand and pebbles out.
